Creating A Level Playing Field For Jobseekers
Being out of work can make us feel like we’ll never find a job again. It eats away at our confidence and creates holes on our CVs that make us worry employers will never give us a chance. It doesn’t matter why we couldn’t work, hundreds of jobseekers have discovered the tricks for getting back on the top with Clean Slate.
Our ‘7 Signs’ programme helps people identify the things that will make employers see all we can offer. In our training workshops or using online tools we’ve designed, jobseekers find confidence as they explore the things they’re good at. They motivate themselves by setting goals that reflect the things they enjoy doing. And they create plans focused on short- and long-term job goals that will pay them to do work they will enjoy and do well.
We put our money where our mouth is too. We recruit jobseekers with the right skills and interests as Peer Workers. They help other jobseekers and they’re good at it because they know what it feels like to be out of work. We provide training so they can go onto similar work in the future.
We also try to create paid work in small enterprises we run too. Clean Slate Distribution employs jobseekers from time-to-time to deliver leaflets door-to-door, pack envelops and despatch stock from warehouses.
Our approach is practical for jobseekers and different to what you might have seen elsewhere. Our training and guidance starts with what we need as an employer – candidates who can do the job. We help people present all they can do and how well they can meet the needs of future bosses. This approach includes re-writing the rule-book on how to produce a CV that looks forwards, not backwards.
