What is a Peer?
A Peer is someone who uses their own experience to help others going through similar situations. Our peers are people who have lots to offer but might struggle with financial literacy, digital skills, mental health or big gaps in their employment.
What is Elements?
The Elements programme offers a 12 week placement, including at least half a day's paid work each week: £11.44 per hour outside London and £12.02 per hour in London.
The placements are designed to fit in around other commitments. They are hosted by Clean Slate and other local care and support services with mentorship from Quids In Champions (Support Workers) at Clean Slate.

You could be a Peer Worker!
Elements is short for 'Experts with Lived Experience supported by Mentorship.' Many of our own colleagues started out as clients who needed support with money or finding work. If you'd like paid work experience, alongside friendly support and training, then this is for you!
Our Peers are involved in many different roles, depending on their own experience. Some examples of the work include -

- Supporting Quids In Champions with their daily tasks
- Welcoming and signing up new clients

- Going to events with staff to promote the service
Care Placements
Working at local health or care centres, with various roles available:
- Support Worker (providing practical and emotional support to the residents)
- Catering Assistant (helping with cooking and serving food)
- Housekeeping Assistant (looking after the premises)
Every Peer Worker will be guided through relevant training but this is carefully planned to make sure it is manageable around other commitments. As a starting point, all Peer Workers will be signed up for eight days of free online Health Education England (HEE) Peer Worker Training. The training is split across the three months of the placement and focuses on mental health. It will offer every Peer Worker guidance and support throughout the placement. There will also be optional training, such as an online Level 2 course in Information, Advice and Guidance.
People who are working in care or other settings will work together with the host organisation to find the best training for that placement. Again, this will all be managed to make sure everyone feels confident.
After the programme, you will have many new skills and our Peers often feed back how proud they feel and how far they've come. At this point, we can support you to update your CV and apply for work that you feel motivated by. If you'd like to find out more, have a look at our video below or get in touch with our teams.
