Our promise to people on low incomes
WE SEE YOU
Sometimes it seems like no-one sees us. We feel out of sight and out of mind. People who cannot afford the cost of travel wonder why local services have closed. People who cannot afford broadband, or can’t use the internet, wonder why they’re expected to go online. It’s like those making decisions don’t know what it’s like to struggle with money. At Clean Slate, we want you to know we see you. We will do all we can to help you get your head above water. We see the struggles and what’s holding you down. We aim to ensure decision-makers do too, so they don’t make things harder.
WE HEAR YOU
We listen and we make sure we’ve heard you. We can only help put you in control of your financial future if we understand where you’re at. We don’t judge. We respect how people must make their own choices. We don’t tell people what to do but offer options based on what you share with us. There is no ‘one size fits all’ solution to the challenges you face. We’ll discuss the unique mix that could be right for you, then it’s over to you – with our help if you need it. Go at your own pace and don’t worry if you’re not ready yet. The thing we can offer everyone is renewed hope in a more secure future. We aim to make this a standard for services and policies everywhere.
WE ARE YOU
Many in our team were in your position once. We recruit people who use our services. They are the experts in what we should be doing to help people struggling most. Whether looking to manage a tight budget, seeking a decent job, or wanting to get online, they relate best to others who need the same. Our staff team speaks your language and our magazines and guides place readers at the centre of the story. When talking to our staff, remember we believe this could be you one day too. You already belong to our shared effort to help people become better off.
In April 2022, the Clean Slate team discussed how it works and what it hopes to achieve. This promise is based on the commitments we made to helping people facing financial hardship.
