Although part of the Age UK family, all the money we raise is used to support people in Bath & North East Somerset. We rely on the generosity of the local community, businesses and people just like you to help us keep our services running.

Bath & North East Somerset Council is working with partners to put in place a comprehensive local response to the cost of living crisis and rising energy bills. The Community Wellbeing Hub has stepped up its help with money matters, bills, benefits, energy costs, food, housing, mental health support, jobs and skills, support for carers and other services. The Hub provides a single telephone number 0300 247 0050 to access support from key local agencies, including Citizens Advice, Age UK and Bath Mind.
The council’s dedicated cost of living crisis web pages contain wide-ranging information on how to get help. Our Live Well B&NES “Money Matters” web pages contain details of organisations and services providing support. More information at www.bathnes.gov.uk/costofliving.
The council is also inviting local organisations to identify Warm Spaces, which will be identified on an online map, and a “Warm Welcome” package will see council libraries offer information and signposting to other organisations.

We are supporting people to manage the rising cost of living through our Welfare Benefits Service that is run in partnership with Citizens Advice Bath. Clients are advised by our own caseworker on things like what benefits they can claim, how to maximise their income, fill in benefits forms and negotiate with Department for Work and Pensions, including the Job Centre. Referrals for this service are via Citizens Advice, rather than Bath Mind. Tel: 0808 278 7897.

Cairn are acutely aware of how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting their tenants and have put a significant focus on helping tenants during this challenging time.

- Successfully applied for a grant from the SFHA so they could give money directly to tenants in fuel poverty

Hillhead HA’s Welfare Rights Service have been offering benefit checks to all tenants of the Association, and residents of the local area to ensure that they are accessing all of the financial assistance that they are entitled to.
We have been highlighting winter assistance programmes, such as the Warm Home Discount, and helping people claim benefits that they were unaware that they were entitled to.
We have also been applying for several grants to help provide emergency fuel funding, winter clothes and energy saving measures- such as draught excluders, to help our tenants keep warm, and save money over the winter period.
